Gender & Energy Compact Dialogue 2026

GE Compact Dialogue: Let’s Keep the Momentum Going

Earlier this year, The Gender and Energy Compact marked its 5-year anniversary with a Dialogue under the theme “From commitment to action – Accelerating a gender-just energy transition,” alongside the International Vienna Energy and Climate Forum (IVECF).

Bringing together representatives from governments, private sector, financial sector, youth, civil society and development partners, the Dialogue enabled exchange, reflection and collaboration at a pivotal moment — with just four years remaining to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

🎥 This video features highlights from the event, including reflections from Sheila Oparaocha, Director of ENERGIA, and Christine Lins, Executive Director of GWNET, on the importance of advancing gender equality and women’s leadership in the energy transition. Katie Alesbury, Senior Strategic Initiatives Lead, Value For Women Ltd., also discusses the importance of including gender in climate discussions.

The Dialogue reinforced that energy systems are not gender neutral, and meaningful progress requires collective action to ensure that women and girls are empowered as leaders and changemakers in the transition to a sustainable energy future. As Rana Ghoneim, Director, Division of Energy and Climate Action, UNIDO expressed “Gender equality and women’s leadership are foundational pillars for a just and inclusive global energy transition. They are powerful drivers of economic growth, innovation and resilience.”

While the event has concluded, the momentum continues. The renewed Gender & Energy Compact Call to Action is open — and we invite organizations and partners to add support.
