Women Connect Study tour to Bavaria

Last week, a delegation of female green hydrogen professionals from Kenya took part in the Women Connect Study Tour to Bavaria. Running from June 21-June 25, the programme brought together experts from government, academia, industry, and research to strengthen international collaboration in the green hydrogen sector. The initiative was organised by GWNET on behalf of GIZ as part of the project “Women’s Empowerment under the Bavarian-Kenyan Green Hydrogen Cooperation Platform.”

The study tour provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and exploring opportunities for future partnerships between Kenya and Bavaria. The programme combined technical site visits with participation in the Hydrogen Dialogue 2026, one of Europe’s leading hydrogen events. Highlights included visits to the Energie Campus Nürnberg, Siemens Energy, and the Technical University of Munich’s Power-to-X Lab, where participants gained insights into cutting-edge hydrogen research, system design, and project implementation.

Throughout the Hydrogen Dialogue, the delegation attended high-level discussions on European hydrogen strategies, infrastructure, financing, innovation, and international cooperation. A dedicated gH2Connect Bavaria–Kenya workshop facilitated dialogue on building resilient green hydrogen ecosystems, while networking events and women-focused sessions created opportunities to connect with experts and peers from across the global hydrogen community.

The study tour strengthened professional networks, showcased Bavaria’s hydrogen ecosystem, and reinforced the importance of empowering women as leaders in the global energy transition. It marked another important step towards deepening cooperation between Kenya and Bavaria in advancing sustainable green hydrogen development. Beside all professional exchanges, it was also a great moment to connect on a personal basis and enjoy Bavaria culture, food and drinks! A memorable week for all participants evolved, not just because of the extreme heat during these days!
