MENTORING PROGRAMMES

PROGRAMMES | COMPLETED MENTORING PROGRAMMES

Run by GWNET and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, (BMWi)

Regional Mentoring Programmes for Latin American Countries (LAC) as well as the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)

The Regional Mentoring Programmes for Latin America (LAC) and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) ran from November 2019 to September 2020, aiming to accelerate the careers of women in junior to mid-management roles within the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors. Organised in partnership between GWNET and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), the programme brought together 45 women energy professionals from Brazil, Mexico, Algeria, Jordan, Morocco, and Tunisia. Each participant was paired with a seasoned mentor, establishing a network designed for mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and empowerment.

Key programme highlights included webinars on personal development, energy sector governance, and the role of women in renewable energy. A selection of mentees participated in a study tour in Berlin, where they engaged in high-level networking, conferences, and site visits. The programme concluded with a final graduation webinar, allowing mentees and mentors to reflect on their experiences. This initiative provided a significant step forward in advancing gender equality within the renewable energy field by empowering a new generation of women leaders.
