GWNET Mentoring Programme 2020

This 12-month programme aimed to accelerate the careers of women in junior and middle management within the energy sector, helping them progress towards leadership roles while building a global network for mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and empowerment. It supported 26 mentees from over 20 countries, offering a structured path to professional growth and career development.

The programme responded to challenges identified in GWNET’s 2020 report, Women for Sustainable Energy: Strategies to Foster Women’s Talent for Transformational Change, which highlighted persistent gender inequality in the sustainable energy sector. By fostering gender diversity, the programme aimed to unlock innovation, enhance technology deployment, and enrich perspectives on social and economic development.

Through this initiative, GWNET sought to advance the role of women as change agents and embed best practices within the industry. This third round of the global mentoring programme reaffirmed GWNET’s commitment to gender equality, aiming to expand the talent pool and promote inclusivity in the sustainable energy transition.
