The second edition of the Women in Clean Cooking (WICC) mentorship program, organised in partnership with the Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA) and Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), aimed to empower women as agents of change in the clean cooking sector. Expanding access to clean cooking has proven essential for advancing gender equality, addressing climate change, and improving women’s health and safety. This rapidly growing sector also offers a wide range of employment opportunities for women.
The 2022 WICC mentoring program trained 60 women across Africa, Asia, and Haiti—doubling the number of participants from the 2021 cohort. Through mentee-mentor pairings and knowledge-sharing webinars on topics such as finance, data, and personal branding, the program provided valuable support and skill development. The second cohort saw record participation from Kenya and Nigeria, reflecting the sector’s growth in these regions.
