Powering a Gender-Just Energy Transition

This working paper developed under the guidance of the GGKP Gender Expert Group “provides an overview of existing knowledge and strategies that aim to ensure no one is left behind during the energy transition. It examines challenges and opportunities for gender-just interventions supporting the energy transition. Best practice examples will highlight the role of various actors and how they have effectively worked together to design and implement gender-transformative actions.”

The report also “proposes a Gender-Just Energy Transition Outcomes Framework, which identifies impact areas for gender equality along the value chain and aims to provide sectoral guidance for practitioners and policymakers to assess, identify and implement gender equality outcomes in energy transition initiatives. Through the provision of action points for gender equality, the Framework aims to raise the level of ambition and financing for transformative impact in the transition to low-carbon and inclusive societies.”
