Short Bio:
Shqipe Neziri Vela is Chairperson to the Board of the Association of Women in Energy Sector in Kosovo. In addition, Ms Vela is a Development Assistance Specialist with the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Mission in Kosovo, providing guidance and support in the energy sector and rule of law. Furthermore, Ms Vela teaches Energy Policy at the American University in Kosovo. Ms. Vela has over 17 years of professional experience mainly in anti-corruption, energy, and environment legislative & policy-making. Her prior professional experience includes various positions with institutions and organizations in Kosovo, Hungary, and the United States, including the World Bank, UNDP, UNICEF, OSCE, and U.S. House of Representatives. Moreover, she has conducted research for the past several years focusing on the impact of corruption in energy & extractive industries. Ms Vela holds a double MA degree in Public Administration & Public Policy from the Central European University (HU) and University of York (UK), focusing on the reform on energy policies in the Western Balkans. She completed her BA degree in Management & Entrepreneurship at the American University in Kosovo. Ms. Vela is a contributor to Harvard’s Global Anti-Corruption Blog, Kosovo 2.0, and Flatra Magazine. She is an advocate and mentor for young women pursuing careers in the energy sector.
