Short Bio:
Rachael Terada is the Director of Technical Projects for the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS), a nonprofit organization that promotes policy and market solutions to advance sustainable energy. She manages technical projects and initiatives for the organization and brings over a decade of experience working in renewable energy markets. She is leading the development of the Green-e® Renewable Fuels certification program for biomethane (also known as renewable natural gas or RNG) in the U.S. and Canada.Rachael also leads technical paper development, international expert assistance to government agencies on renewable energy policy design, support for renewable energy certificate (REC) tracking system initiatives, as well as blockchain initiatives for renewable energy markets. Rachael oversees the annual Renewable Energy Markets conference, which focuses on domestic and international corporate and institutional renewable energy procurement, community and utility programs, renewable energy policy, and market growth and trends. Rachael previously oversaw all operations for the Green-e® certification and consumer protection program, which certifies the majority of the voluntary market for retail renewable electricity and REC sales in the United States. Her leadership helped provide consumer protection services for over 1.1 million renewable energy consumers and 54,000 businesses on an annual basis. In 2018, this program certified over 62 million megawatt hours (MWh) of new renewable energy production, enough to power over half of U.S. households for a month and providing a market for over half of all the installed wind capacity in the U.S. She currently manages technical projects for the Green-e® programs. She began as a consultant with CRS in 2006, and joined CRS as a Project Manager in 2008. Prior to CRS, she worked in planning, engineering design, and construction management for government projects. Rachael earned her M.S. and B.S. degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
