Short Bio:
In my current role as an Associate at Economic Development Platform, I conduct Economic Development reports and audits for projects within the Renewable Independent Power Producer Programme (REIPPP). Analysing the various Economic Development indicators of the projects within the program such as: job creation, local content, ownership, management control, preferential procurement, social-economic development, and enterprise development. To deduce whether their targets have been met according to these indicators and reporting the results to the Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme Office (IPPO), within the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy. In addition to conducting Economic Development reports and audits for projects within the Renewable Independent Power Producer Programme (REIPPP). Various community development work is done within the renewable energy sector, such as stakeholder relations, development of community needs assessments and stakeholder engagement plans. Work with renewable energy project owners with the economic development aspects of their utility – scale projects during various bidding processes. In my former role as an Analyst at Genesis Analytics (the largest Economics-based consulting firm in Africa), I started as an Economic Analyst in the Financial Services Strategy practice, where the focus of the work was conducting economic assessments and providing strategy recommendations to financial institutions such as the Banking Association of South Africa. I was then transferred to the Infrastructure Advisory Practice, where I worked as an Economic Analyst. My responsibilities included conducting economic analysis of data reports using both conceptual and quantitative approaches such as conducting cost-benefit analysis for various government and donor institutions across Africa. I also performed relevant research related to projects to source required data, as well as applying economic thinking and logic to problem solving, in order to prepare clearly thought-out and logically written reports that outline the economic analysis required by various clients across Africa. Some of the clients were the African Development Bank, the National Treasury of Kenya, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) / South Africa – DAI, and the World Bank. Part of my role included writing and developing proposals for potential work opportunities for the practice. I have also worked as a client service consultant – investment analyst at Allan Gray which is an asset management firm. While completing my Master’s studies in the United States, I worked as a research and development intern at Shared Interest. Shared Interest is a non-profit company that assist small business in South and Southern Africa with security collateral and capital for their businesses. These jobs taught me how to work well in a team, have excellent communication skills with both clients and colleagues. I work well under pressure and make it a priority to execute my tasks well. I enjoy being a part of new experiences that will broaden my horizons and I also appreciate teamwork.
