Short Bio:
My name is Iwona and I’m a Research Associate at Loughborough University where I work on the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) programme, with a focus on humanitarian energy access. Previously, I was a Research Associate at University College London and a Research Consultant at Chatham House, also focusing on energy in displacement settings. Prior to that, I led research at BBOXX- the next generation utility company specialising in off-grid solar energy across Sub-Saharan Africa, and concurrently a Post-Doctoral Researcher at ISULabaNtu project in South Africa. My core experience is in energy access, as well as water and sanitation projects in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and Latin America which I tackled while working with different organisations (Engineers without Borders; Water & Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP), SEED Madagascar Phoenix Ecuador). My background is in sociology, anthropology, development planning and energy. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Glasgow, my Masters degree from the Development Planning Unit at University College London (UCL) and my PhD in Energy at UCL.
