Short Bio:
Alexandra Moreno has a degree in Electrical Engineering and Electronic Engineering. She also holds a master of sciences in Electrical Engineering specialized in renewable energies, and a master’s degree in Energy, Ecology and Society. She has written academic publications in different scientific journals and she has integrated a research group in Technology and Society.
In 2014, Alexandra started her career in Bogotá, Colombia with the consulting firm ONC in the formulation of strategies and models for the evaluation of industrial energy assets and electricity network (hydro, thermal, transmission and distribution networks), and risk assessment. This first experience allowed her to obtain broad skills in financial evaluation of projects and technical knowledge of energy sector infrastructures. In 2017, she joined the planning unit of the Ministry of Mines and Energy in Colombia, where she oversaw the formulation of the electric energy expansion plan according to the national energy plan and the national development plan. This experience has given her a deep knowledge of the organization of the energy sector at the regulatory and economic level, as well as the planning of wind and photovoltaic renewable energies at the national level.
Since 2021, Alexandra started working for TTA, overseeing and managing the operation of solar photovoltaic microgrids in Burundi (rural electrification), as well as finding new financing opportunities to add new services to the projects in Burundi and Kenya, and supporting projects of solar PV mini-grids and energy access in Latin America and Caribbean (Bolivia, Haiti, Brazil). Alexandra is fluent in English, Spanish and French.
