Short Bio:
Shuyi Li is a Manager of Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), an independent, nonpartisan nonprofit founded in 1982 with the mission to transform global energy use to create a clean, prosperous, and secure low-carbon future. As a young professional dedicated to low-carbon energy transition, Shuyi leads RMI’s work to support decarbonizing China’s heavy industry, the hardest-to-abate sectors of the World’s Factory.
In 2019, she lead-authored the report “China 2050: A Fully Developed Rich Zero-Carbon Economy” – one of the first to set out the vision of a zero-carbon China way before the country’s official announcement of “carbon neutrality” goal. This work, regarded as a frontier insight piece on China’s decarbonization, has drawn wide attention from both private and public sectors, academic institutes and media.
From there, Shuyi works to support industry players on decarbonization strategies and continues to drive impact among influencing agencies. She helps build RMI into a go-to think-and-do tank that performs in-depth insights on decarbonization roadmaps for China’s largest carbon-emitters including steel, cement, petrochemicals and chemicals sectors. She also actively engages with multi-stakeholders including companies, industrial associations, think tanks etc. to facilitate joint actions towards China’s 2060 carbon neutrality goal.
