Short Bio:
Sandra Riaño holds a B. Sc. and a M. Sc. in Automatics and Industrial Electronics Engineering (University of Deusto, Bilbao, 2006). In 2008 she joined the Smart Grids Area of TECNALIA, and since 2019 in the technological platform Digital Energy. Her main research activities were related to DER integration, Demand Response, Energy Efficiency, Smart Metering, communications for Smart Grids and Data Analytics. She has been involved in research projects of data analytics for electricity sector, mostly related to smart meter events and supply quality, predictive maintenance of medium voltage cables and PV plants. In all these areas, she has worked closely with electrical manufacturers and utilities.
Since 2023, she is a researcher of the Photovoltaics System, focused on applying IA for operation and maintenance of PV systems.
Until 2023, Ms. Riaño participated as an expert in the European platform ETIP-SNET, aimed to guide Research, Development & Innovation (RD&I) to support Europe’s energy transition. Her activity is focused on WG4, addressed to the Digitization of the electricity system and Customer participation.
