I am Ms. Ranju Pandey, working as a Director in Nepal Electricity. I have more than 19 years’ experience in energy sector. I had pursued master’s in business administration (MBA) and Electrical Engineering degree from Nepal and Master of Engineering in ‘Energy and Environment Management’ from the University of Flensburg, Flensburg, Germany. I began my work as Technical Officer in Rural Energy Development Programme (REDP) in the Baglung district and worked in close co-ordination with District Development Committee Baglung for the promotion of Micro-hydro in the remote areas of the Distict. worked as Bio-fuel Project Manager in People, Energy & Environment Development Association (PEEDA), and further as Executive Officer in National Association of Community Electricity Users Nepal (NACEUN), Regional Climate Change Co-coordinator in Nepal Climate Change Support Programme (NCCSP). From past 11 years She has been working in different department in Nepal Electricity Authority. I worked more than 5 years in the Power Trade Department of NEA as a Manger and Electrical Engineer, a project manager in the Kathmandu Valley smart meter project that is funded by Asian Development Bank. Similarly, I worked in System Operation Department (Load Dispatch Center) in Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) as a manager, my major responsibility as a manager is to fascinate the smooth operation of the Integrated National Power System. I was the coordinator of the Energy Trade Unit of the System Operation Department and work closely with the Indian Trade Company and trade the power in Power Exchange Market as per the System requirement. I was promoted and worked as a director in the Power System Management Department from last 1.5-years Major roles of this department are to do the Grid impact study of the Nepal Integrated Power System with the addition of new loads and the generating plants in the system. Medium term planning and the long-term planning is done the various transmission lines generating plants and the loads are recommended in the different areas. I also worked as a director of Power System Operation Department, the Load Dispatch Center (LDC) under NEA (Nepal Electricity Authority) for about 4 months. The department is responsible for Real-time balancing of generation and load. The Load Dispatch Centers are responsible for ensuring grid frequency and voltage stability, managing power imports/exports, integrating variable renewable energy sources, handling outages and emergencies and more. Recently, I have been leading the Smart Metering and Automation Department. The department is mainly responsible for replacement of the households, industries meter with the smart meters. Furthermore, for the reliability and the quick response of the system smart meters has been installed in the generation plants and substation too.
