Mekides Ashagre is a Chemical Engineer, renewable energy professional, and researcher dedicated to advancing sustainable energy solutions in Africa. She leads a clean energy startup focused on biogas upgrading and clean cooking fuel technologies, working to expand affordable and low-carbon energy access for communities. She is a winner in the BRICS energy sector innovation competition, recognized for her contribution to sustainable energy development. Mekides has completed an Energy Management program at the University of Cape Town and is an alumna of the Student Energy Network. She also serves as Vice President of the Ethiopian Hydrogen Association, contributing to the advancement of green hydrogen and clean energy transition initiatives in Ethiopia.
