Short Bio:
Daniela Sanchez Lopez is an Economist with an interdisciplinary background in political science, international development and human geography. She holds an MA in Development Studies from the Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam in The Netherlands and a Ph.D. in International Development from the University of East Anglia (UEA) in the United Kingdom. With nearly a decade of experience in public policy research, she worked in international organizations like the United Nations and has a regional specialism in Latin America. My research seeks to develop a geopolitical ecology approach to lithium and battery technologies in order to understand: how lithium as a strategic resource is being extracted, by whom and for what purposes. And how the different governance frameworks shape how the low carbon energy technologies emerge, change and are adopted in a world embedded in an energy transition and the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals
