Short Bio:
Chioma Ome is a dynamic sustainable development leader with over 12 years of experience driving impactful initiatives in social inclusion, women’s economic empowerment, and climate action. With a proven track record in organizational development, GESI mainstreaming, policy advocacy, and project Management, she has transformed lives across Sub-Saharan Africa empowering over 3.5 million women through innovative initiatives. Currently serving as the Country Director at Solar Sister, Chioma provides strategic leadership for operations across Nigeria, and serves as a member of Solar Sister Africa Council. Her work in Solar Sister has championed in the establishment of over 3,500 women-led clean energy businesses, the creation of 1,200 new jobs annually, and the development of innovative financial models such as interest-free loans and digital inclusion programs. She co-designed Solar Sister’s entrepreneurship training curricula and led cross-cultural frameworks to foster climate adaptation and gender equity. Previously, Chioma held leadership roles at Eta Zuma Energy, where she redefined HR strategies to align with business continuity, and at the Health Improvement on Cancer Initiative, where she delivered life-saving cancer awareness programs, reaching over 5,700 women. She began her career as a Senior Programs Associate at Visions for Nigeria Foundation, where she implemented community outreach projects that enhanced economic empowerment for women and youth. Chioma’s achievements extend beyond program implementation. As a co-developer of a gender action charter with Women in Renewable Energy Nigeria, She has also been a panelist and speaker at several conferences, sharing insights and solutions to social inclusion in the implementation of SDG goals. She serves as a mentor for with the Tony Elumelu Foundation and Global Women’s Network for Energy Transition (GWNET) A lifelong learner, Chioma is pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration at Roxbourg Institute of Social Entrepreneurship. She holds an MBA from Assam Don Bosco University and has had training in resilient leadership, gender mainstreaming, and human-centered design. Recognized for her expertise, she has received awards like the Organizational Leadership Award and continues to mentor aspiring leaders in the energy sector. Chioma’s passion for inclusive development and her strategic foresight make her a transformative force in advancing gender equity, sustainable livelihoods, and climate resilience globally.
