Short Bio:
My name is Biubwa Omar Khamis, and I serve as the Chairperson of the Zanzibar Women Chamber of Commerce (ZWCC). I’m also the Founder & CEO of Safari Gateway Ltd, a company dedicated to meaningful and sustainable tourism with a focus on halal-friendly experiences. With over 15 years of experience in the tourism sector, I’m passionate about using travel as a tool for empowerment, cultural exchange, and economic growth. I’ve been at the forefront of promoting halal tourism in Zanzibar and Tanzania, helping to open up new markets and opportunities while respecting Islamic values. Beyond tourism, I actively work to empower women and youth, especially in rural areas, by improving access to markets, training, and business opportunities. I also volunteer in clean cooking initiatives, aiming to reduce the burden on women and children and to promote healthier, energy-efficient solutions in underserved communities. Through my leadership roles and advocacy work, I’m committed to building inclusive, sustainable systems that benefit local communities and create lasting impact.
