Location: Virtual

Description: The VEF Virtual Series is a platform with the overarching goal of progressing agreed recommendations and delivering policy briefs with action-oriented solutions in targeted locations, to assist countries around the world to align their recovery efforts with an Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development.

The January Session of the VEF Virtual Series focused on the importance of empowering women and youth to accelerate the clean energy transition. It featured women and youth leaders that have broken through barriers and become actors of change in the road towards a clean and inclusive energy transition.

The session also focused on local and innovative solutions that have the power to lead a transformative change in the energy sector and the potential to shift societies towards a sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

GWNET Executive Director, Christine Lins, took part in the first-day session on “future-proof skills and enabling environments” while GWNET president, Dr Irene Giner-Reichl, moderated the high-level discussion on the second day. Watch the recordings for day 1 and day 2.

Austrian Minister of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, Leonore Gewessler, also emphasised the importance of diversity and inclusion in advancing the energy transition, as well as the need for international networks such as GWNET. Watch her remarks here.
