Description: The event ‘Role of Women in Energy Transition’ was held on 22nd September, as part of the World Energy Storage Day (WESD) 2022.
The event focused on discussions around women’s contribution to the energy sector, barriers to and opportunities for the participation of women, supportive policy measures, energy partnerships, and channels to increase the representation of women in the sector.
As part of this event, GWNET Executive Director, Christine Lins, took part in a panel where she shared her experiences in the energy sector as well as provided insight into the background of GWNET’s work and the lessons learned along the way. The panel was moderated by Disha Agarwal, Program Lead – Renewables, Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) and other panellists included:
- Isabel Chatterton, APAC Head of Industry, Infrastructure and Natural Resources, IFC
- Selamawit Beneberu, Senior Energy Advisor and Staff representative at GIZ Energy Program Ethiopia and Vice chairperson of Ethiopian women in Energy
- Bindu Polumahanti, Director, Policy & Regulatory Affairs, India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA)
