GWNET offers an energy-sector specific, global mentoring programme for women in junior/middle management positions. Since the success of a mentoring relationship depends on a high degree of compatibility between mentor and mentee, GWNET is committed to select with great attention the most perfect match for any mentee, drawing from a significant pool of willing and suitable mentors.
The mentoring programme typically lasts for 12 months. While the programme runs online, a physical meeting during a suitable occasion- such as an event or network meeting, would be an ideal add-on to the mentor-mentee relationship. Typically mentors and mentees need to calculate 1 – 1.5 hours per month for mentoring programme related activities.
GWNET’s mentoring programme begins with a web-based kick-off meeting which allows for the interaction of all mentees and mentors for that programme cycle. Subsequently, the programme is concluded by an interactive web-based graduation meeting. If groups are too big for suitable interaction in one interactive web-based setting, several web-based meetings will be offered.
Mentors serve on an honorary basis and agree to respect the Global Code of Ethics for Mentors established by the European Mentoring & Coaching Council. Each mentor-mentee tandem establishes an agreement on the frequency of interactions and the channels of their communication. The tandem also defines goals and priorities for their mentoring process, using benchmarks, feedback and other suitable tools to document progress towards the selected and agreed-upon goals. Recommended forms for the initial agreement as well as for tracking progress are supplied by GWNET.
Regional- or industry-focused mentoring programmes are offered on an on-demand basis and are subject to available funding. These could be shorter in duration and involve face-to-face kick-off and graduation meetings.
Mentees have access to additional GWNET modules for personal and professional growth (e.g. webinars on the development of the energy sector or on other relevant cognitive contents; units of personal development; psychological or job-related referral services). These modules are offered free of charge as part of GWNET’s mentoring programme services. Upon completion of a full period of mentoring and based on the recommendation of the individual mentor, GWNET issues a Certificate of Completion.
