GWNET 2020 Mentoring Programme for Women in the Energy Sector (1)

Gender diversity drives innovation, opens new pathways for technology deployment, brings valuable perspectives to social and economic development and provides a richer pool of talent for key and emerging industries. However, as seen in GWNET’s 2020 report “Women for Sustainable Energy: Strategies to Foster Women’s Talent for Transformational Change,” the sustainable energy sector remains gender unequal.

In order to advance the role of women as agents of change in society and promote best practices within the sector, the Global Women’s Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET) is launching the third round of its global mentoring programme for women working in the energy sector.

The programme is designed to accelerate the careers of women in junior/middle management positions in energy, support their pathway to leadership positions and foster a global network of mentorship, knowledge-sharing and empowerment. The application criteria are as follows:

  • Must be a woman working in the energy sector
  • Must work in a junior/middle management position (between 2 and 10 years of working experience)

Furthermore, the mentoring programme is designed around the following key programme parameters:

  • 12-month programme duration
  • Comprehensive knowledge-transfer components through a series of webinars
  • Networking and peer-to-peer exchange

If you fulfil all the application criteria and are interested to apply as a mentee, please fill in the application form.

The Application Deadline is 5th April 2020

Programme Fees

The fees for participation in the programme are EUR 500. Eligible candidates will be notified and invited to transfer the programme fee of EUR 500 to GWNET’s account IBAN: AT40 3200 0000 1253 2636; BIC: RLNWATWW. Upon receipt of the programme fee, candidates will receive the confirmation of acceptance into the programme.

Sponsoring a Mentee

Become a mentor for one of GWNET’s Mentoring Programmes – what’s in it for you?

GWNET is looking for senior professionals who are eager to make a difference and have a positive impact on a younger woman’s career in the energy sector. With the ever-changing dynamics of the business fields, digitalisation, knowledge and knowledge sharing has become more important than ever.

As a mentor, you get the opportunity to give something valuable back to more junior professionals and to expand your own knowledge through your mentees’ perspective. Mentoring will contribute to personal and professional development for both you and your mentee, as well as, shaping the direction of future generations within your field of expertise.

If you are interested in volunteering as a mentor for one of GWNET’s Mentoring Programmes (which involves approx. 1 – 1.5 hours of engagement per month plus optional participation in knowledge-transfer webinars), kindly fill in this Mentor Datasheet.

I am an unemployed Brazilian electrical engineer. I worked for 2 years an electrical energy distributor and tried to open my own business in a partnership of photovoltaic systems installation. Since almost 3 years I tried job opportunities in my knowledge area without success. I don’t fulfil the application criteria, but I really would appreciate to have some kind of mentorship.
