Description: The forum ‘Diversifying and Strengthening the Utility Workforce’ was held on 14th September in Almaty, as part of the Central Asia Clean Energy Forum.
The forum focused on “three key themes that have major implications for the future trajectory of energy system development in the Central Asian Region and the role that U.S. Government institutions are taking or can take to assist the region. These included 1) Major initiatives countries are taking to meet climate commitments and energy transition, 2) The role of innovation, technology, and finance to support the energy transition, and 3) Opportunities and challenges of market-based regional electricity cooperation and trade.”
As part of this forum, GWNET Senior Advisor, Irene Giner-Reichl, took part in a panel discussing the role of education, professional development, and gender sensitivity in strengthening the utility workforce. The panel was moderated by Anar Nurbaeva, Principal, Gender Advisor, European Bank for Reconstruction
and Development (EBRD) and other panellists included:
