Description: The National Hydropower Association (NHA) held its first Clean Currents water power trade show and conference geared toward benefiting the hydropower industry in North America. The event showcased and promoted innovation, leadership, and educational opportunities covering a range of technology solutions including conventional hydropower, pumped storage, small hydro, and marine energy. Clean Currents brought together hydropower professionals representing government agencies, regulators, NGOs and consultants on topics such as safety, security, markets, environmental enhancement, engineering, and licensing/relicensing
During the conference, the NHA sponsored a Women in Waterpower Breakfast. The morning session offered a chance for women and men attendees to network, and to hear speakers discuss supportive mentoring, coaching, training, and networking opportunities available to women involved in the hydropower sector.
Victoria Healey, a Member of the GWNET Governing Board, was the featured speaker and presented an informative overview covering GWNET’s history, mission, accomplishments, and the channels through which we seek to enjoy a comprehensive and just energy transition: mentoring, coaching, training, and networking offerings. Victoria encouraged attendees to become involved in GWNET and explore the many available and growing opportunities. She also informed the participants of the Gender Equality in the Hydropower Sector study that is underway and welcomed them to take part in the online survey, so that we can present an inclusive Hydropower Sector.
