Description: GWNET Executive Director, Christine Lins, and GWNET Communications Manager, Davina Ngei, took part in the AEEP Energy Talks “Empowered Actors of Change: A Successful African-European Energy Transition Depends on Women.“
This webinar convened African and European experts to discuss the indispensable role of women as changemakers in the energy transition.
Initiatives such as the African Network of Women in Infrastructure were presented to promote gender-responsive planning and implementation of African infrastructure projects. Furthermore, experiences of implementing gender policies in the energy sector were highlighted through examples from West Africa. The webinar also heard from female business leaders who sell energy appliances and services for last-mile distribution.
After opening remarks from the African Union Commission (AUC) and the European Commission (EC), there were keynote speeches from Christine Lins and Sheila Oparaocha (ENERGIA). There was also a panel discussion moderated by Davina Ngei with insights from Christine Lins, Sheila Oparaocha, Sharon Yeti (Powerlive Zimbabwe) and Bah F M Saho (ECREEE).
